Because they are bursting!
Until very recently I was getting lots of sleep and only waking once to pee. In the last 2 weeks or so I have been waking every 2 hours (I swear there is an alarm on my internal clock) to pee out the tiniest dribble I have ever come across. It is disappointing and obviously sleep disturbing. As a result I am getting more and more tired by the day!
For some reason I can go for up to 5 hours during the day without peeing but at night it is 120 minutes MAX.
I bought my Spatone today and took my first dose already. I am so proud of myself. I know I didn’t take iron before D was born and am, in a way, glad I got a kick up the bum to start taking it.
Iron, man October 29, 2008Posted by Laura in Uncategorized.
Midwife in the hospital rang today while I was TIO clothes shopping and told me my “blood was in my boots” A little clarification later I discovered that she was telling me my haemoglobin was 10.4
At 12w5d it was 12. At 28w5d it was 11.4. At 35w5d it was 10.4. I am happy enough with that progression considering I haven’t done anything about supplementing my iron. I will start taking something now, if for no other reason than to prepare my body for labour.

I was with the Ob, not my own guy, yesterday. It was interesting to be reminded of what it is like to not see the same person each time. To be honest he was a little all over the place. He dipped my urine, asked if I was having any problems peeing, I said no, he said there were nitrates in my urine and he would send a sample off to the lab. Now while he was saying that he was putting my sample in the bin and there was no further mention of urine samples. He checked my BP (120/78) and listened to the baby (after I told him where to listen). He checked that the baby is head down and then not trusting his own judgement he used the scanner to check that the baby is indeed head down. He waved a tape measure near my belly and announced that it was 36cm (in keeping with my dates). He was unconcerned that 3 weeks ago my belly measured 35w. It would bother me a lot to think that my bump, & therefore baby, only grew a week in the last 3 weeks. He then started talking about estimated birth weight and came up with “not as heavy as your son, more like 4.2kg” Now if my bump were measuring 36w then I wouldn’t be having a 4.2kg (9.5lbs) baby in 4 weeks time. I smiled and nodded when he asked me for the 4th time if I had an appointment for my scan in two weeks. It was just easier!
Susan: Did you buy the jersey bedding? I bought the beige & brown one the day I posted about it and it is lovely.
Ruth: I have people on my expected baby list so it is odd to think that I am at the top of your expected baby list.
I have fallen in love with dairy free fudge from Jim Garrahy’s Fudge Kitchen. It is by no means cheap but DANG it is good 🙂
I went shopping in Newry today and bought some long sleeve vests & babygrows for TIO so it is no longer second hand TIO 🙂 I also got a cute Christmas babygrow for TIO but I can’t find a photo of it for now.
Hands up who is blown away by the fact that Saturday is November. Did I tell you all that someone asked me the other day how many DAYS I have left? I still haven’t had a chance to tell someone that TIO is due next month but I am being asked about days.

I am 8 months pregnant today! I am huge and feeling it every time I stand up. My pelvis is so sore it takes my breath away. It is only of any use to be a physiotherapist if you work in a practice where there are colleagues who can treat you. So tomorrow my sister is going to be my hands and eyes (behind my back) and help me try to fix my own pelvis.
Over the weekend I was clearing off the kitchen table and every time I thought about putting something on the dresser in the kitchen I was fearful that the shite on the shelves would avalanche down onto the floor and I would end up with more to tidy.
This morning my cleaner came (on a Bank Holiday because she knows I am in the hospital tomorrow. Dang, I love that woman) and while she was in the kitchen she tidied three of the shelves, actually more like organised but hey! anything I don’t have to do is good for me! She is going to do the other one next week.

I have been busy October 25, 2008Posted by Laura in Uncategorized.

It has been a busy week in this house catching up with laundry etc. My bags are ready to be packed and almost everything is in the same place 🙂 The camera batteries are charged and everything, that needs to be, is bought.
The arrival of Winter weather has made me a little concerned about having a tiny baby in this weather but, I reckon at this point, there is no point worrying! It is not going to change anything.
I am 35w2d and have just measured my bump (had lost the cloth measuring tape but a tidy up of the table revealed not one but two tapes). I measured it 3 times and it was 38cm, 38cm & 38.5cm! I “should” measure between 35 & 35.5cm at the moment so as far as my bump is concerned it has 2 or less weeks left which equates to about 7lbs! Now 7lbs with 2 weeks to go is fine, but 7lbs with 5 weeks to go is scary, especially at the estimated 0.5lb per week that TIO should gain. Quick math works that out at 9.5lbs.
Felt fruit October 21, 2008Posted by Laura in Uncategorized.
I have 2 sets of felt fruit for sale. The set consists of an apple, a pear, an orange & a peelable banana (picture below). They are made from acrylic felt and stuffed with polyester stuffing. The set is for sale for €25 (inc postage within Ireland).
If you are interested in the set there is also 2 strawberries that can be added to the set for an additional €5.
Bowl not included.

The clothes are all washed, dried, folded and sorted by size. The first lot of nappies are in the wash at the moment and the other half are ready to go on. It is a beautiful day & I am getting laundry dried outside (which I love) so anything that can be washed is being washed.
The next job is to sort out the clothes into vacuum bags (if TIO is less than 10lbs we get to use as yet unused clothes, if it is bigger than 10lbs I need a whole other set of clothes).
TIO will go into the same babygrow that D went into (a very cute Tes.co Winnie the Pooh babygrow) unless it is bigger and then I need to have a spare 🙂
I bought myself a new holdall (and spent all of €12, big spender me). It is bigger than my existing holdall so I will use the existing one for the hospital and pack our own stuff into the newer, bigger one.
I have lists made, now it is time to gather the stuff together.
I am still scared shitless!
On a side note I worked with Ruth’s husband and the new hard drive and we weren’t able to fix it. I took the hard drive into the PC place in town yesterday and they weren’t able to see any more then I was when they plugged it into their machine. They didn’t charge me (which I was stunned by) and told me that the drive was obviously faulty and it should be returned. So that is what I am doing now, trying to sort out the return.

I finally got around to taking photos of the orange and the apple. 4 square Duplo for scale.
